AMD's New Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Processors: Fastest to Date

The new  Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Processor from AMD is officially the fastest AMD processor to date (released today). The 1100T has an unlocked chip allowing it to have flexible overclocking potential: Hence “Black Edition”. Below I have included the AMD Phenom II X6 Processors and how they compare to one another:

AMD Phenom™ II X6 Processor

Model#

Frequency L2 Cache L3 Cache Packaging Thermal Design Power CMOS Technology
1100T* 3.3 GHz 3MB 6MB socket AM3 125W 45nm SOI
1090T* 3.2 GHz 3MB 6MB socket AM3 125W 45nm SOI
1075T 3.0 GHz 3MB 6MB socket AM3 125W 45nm SOI
1065T 2.9 GHz 3MB 6MB socket AM3 95W 45nm SOI
1055T 2.8 GHz 3MB 6MB socket AM3 125W 45nm SOI
1045T 2.7 GHz 3MB 6MB socket AM3 95W 45nm SOI

Clocking in at 3.3 GHz, the Phenom II X6 1100T has the fastest base clock rate, and according to Hot Hardware it has a peak Turbo Core frequency of 3.7 GhZ (previously the 1090T topped out at 3.2GHz/3.6GHz). It was concluded that the Phenom II X6 100T however having the fastest base and Turbo Core frequencies offered little performance boost in comparison to the previous X6 1090T. In terms of the 1100T’s extra cores there is a definite boost in multithreaded workloads over previous AMD quad cores, but Intel’s six core processors are still on top; although more expensive.

AMD’s Phenom II X6 1100T is now the highest clock AMD processor release to date, and will be priced as so: The MSRP is $265 which is a perfectly reasonable price base for this processor as you will get more than what you paid for. It should also be noted that being released alongside the Phenom II X6 1100T is the 3.4GHz Phenom II X2 565 Black Edition for around $115, and the 3.3GHz Athlon X3 455 at around $87.
